Understanding how to lose weight fast and safe is one of the most difficult tasks a person can tackle. You need all of the information available to be successful. One of the things I learned on my weight loss journey is that I never knew as much as I thought I did. When I began my trek I had a concept of what it took to drop the fat. In the middle of it all I had learned a great deal more and realized I had been wrong about a few things. By the time I approached my goal weight, I understood that many widely accepted notions are simply not true. It is no wonder that millions of people struggle with trimming down given all of the bogus information being passed around. I would like to share with you some information on what is not true concerning weight loss.
One idea that has gained traction over the years is that you can eat as much as you want as long as the food is considered “healthy”. That is, you can eat tons of fruits, vegetables, diet foods, and other such items. While those food types play an important role in the best way to lose weight, the unfortunate truth is that even if a food item is good for you, calories still count. Let us consider an apple. It is a great, healthy snack. It has vitamins your body needs and it is low on calories. However, if you stuff your face with tons of apples you will most certainly gain fat. I was reminded of how this idea was widespread when I noticed a friend of mine trying to lose weight. She was having a difficult time and asked me for help. She would always start her morning off with a bowl of mixed fruit and a glass of milk. There were a lot of healthy things in her mixture, but the bowl was quite large. Milk has a few great things in it as well, like protein and calcium. However, she was easily taking in over 900 calories just from this breakfast choice. It was far too much for her. No matter how healthy they can be, too much means your body will pack on extra flab.
Another bogus concept is that fat is bad. This could not be further from the truth. Your body needs fat. That may sound strange when the idea is to lose fat, but the simple truth is there are good fats and bad fats. An example of bad fat would be a term you have probably heard: trans fat. This is short for unsaturated fat with trans-isomer fatty acids. These do not promote good health. You will typically find this kind of fat in fast food products and other prepared foods. An example of good fat would be monounsaturated fats. These can actually improve health. This type of fat can be found in nuts, olive oil, and other types of food. Learning the difference between good and bad fats is essential. It is important to not have the attitude that any and all fat is bad.
Avoiding bogus weight loss plans, programs, diets, or tips can be tricky. Whether it is a TV commercial, a print ad, or a random product in the store, companies are always pushing certain concepts that are deemed to be good for profit, but not necessarily great in accuracy. No matter what the situation is, however, if you understand the basic concepts of losing weight then you can make an informed decision and avoid wasting your time and money. The reason I point this out is to demonstrate how not all fitness or dieting products are bad. For example, if you know your calorie maintenance and how many fewer calories you should be eating, then a diet program or special food type that’s for sale may be appropriate for you and you can make that choice without wondering if you’re being scammed. Some products and foods can aid in losing fat and keeping us healthier. If you know the truth then you can be successful.
To wrap things up I’d like to leave you with a few good ideas. Don’t try to dump all of your fat really fast. I know you want to lose weight quickly. Believe me, I know how that feels. But I urge you to take a moment and approach the problem with a good plan and a solid reasoning for doing so. Think of it this way: if you drop the pounds fast, but rubber band back up due to poor habits then what good did it do? If you take things a bit slower, but remain a healthy weight forever then isn’t that essentially the fastest way to get in shape? Don’t look for easy, quick fixes.
