Diet Plans

There are many ways to approach weight loss and fitness. Generally, you’re gonna need a good meal plan. You need to know what foods to eat and which to avoid. There are many opinions on which diet plans are the best, but the important thing is that you get the required nutrients and vitamins along with maintaining a calorie deficit if you’re trying to trim the fat.

Restricting Calories

This is probably the most reliable and safe method of losing fat. In a nutshell, you make sure that you receive the proper amounts of nutrients and vitamins while eating below your calorie maintenance. This usually means having a calorie deficit of about 500. However, you could create a larger deficit for faster weight loss. I would not suggest going larger than 1,000. The beauty of this method is that you get to eat whatever you like. The only stipulation is that you don’t surpass your calorie limit. So if you wanted to fit pizza into your day then you could do that. If you’d like to have a bowl of ice cream then dig in. As long as you can keep track of your calories, you have a lot of freedom. Exercise is key with this approach. It gives you the space to eat the foods you like without sacrificing your fat loss. Make sure you get in at least some exercise each day. Even walking would do the trick.

Low Fat Diet

One thing to consider about fat is that it’s heavier in calories. One gram of fat has 9 calories. One gram of carbohydrate has 4 calories. Likewise, one gram of protein has 4 calories. So you see, fat has more than double the calories of other nutrients. If you avoid eating foods that are heavy in fat then you are avoiding a lot of calories. However, you still must be careful because some food products can still have outrageous amounts of calories despite being low in fat. Some companies load their food with sugars and all sorts of other calorie jacking ingredients. Something you must keep in mind is that even if you eat 0 fat in a day, if you blow past your calorie maintenance you will not lose fat. I know that doesn’t seem fair, but it’s a fact about weight loss. Food selection on this diet is not bad at all. You have access to lean meats like fish and chicken. You can also enjoy delicious fruits and vegetables. It’s not quite as flexible when simply watching calories, but there’s a lot of room to work with.

Low Carb Diet

Restricting carbs can be a tricky proposition. Like with any diet, you still must maintain a calorie deficit in order to drop fat. So the question is, will eating XX amount of calories with low carbs keep you satisfied and healthy? The answer to that is not necessarily yes. Many people tend to have adverse effects from low carb meal plans. These include bowel issues like constipation or diarrhea. There can also be dizziness and fatigue. The biggest negative about low carb diets is the restrictive food selection. There are a lot of foods you can’t have. It gives you very little freedom when compared to the low calorie or low fat approach. While you can certainly lose fat on a low carb diet, it’s not necessarily any quicker than simply watching your calories. Don’t be fooled by weight loss results in the first 1-2 weeks of a low carb diet. Your body will dump water weight during this period and the scale may cause you to think you’re dropping tons of fat.

Vegan – Vegetarian – Paleo (Caveman) & More

There are a million different ways to form your diet. You can skip meat. You can ignore processed foods. You can eat nothing but candy (don’t). A lot of these diets can get the job done, but there’s nothing magical about them. No matter what plan you’re following, it boils down to the same thing each and every time. You can’t eat too much. You’re body must get the right nutrients and vitamins. You need exercise of some kind. These simple facts cannot be overlooked. So no matter what you decide to do, don’t skimp on what’s truly important.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t follow those special eating plans. Just because no diet can ignore the basic rules of fitness and weight loss doesn’t mean it’s a scam or bogus. In the end it comes down to what you can accomplish. I’ve known overweight folks who tried very hard to lose weight on one particular diet and failed while others did great. Those who failed tried several methods before coming across one that worked for them. They found something they could stick with. Winning the mental battle allowed them to drop the fat.
